This morning, my mum said that she is going to give the old car (PAM 5538)to the government to get some refund for buying a new car. My heart sank. I didn`t want her to change the old car with a brand new Proton. I rather choose not to have the new car.
PAM5538, the car we used to sit on when we are still in the kindergarten. The first car my dad bought after their marriage. The only car my grandfather had during his lifetime. The first car my dad used to drive my mum to hospital to give birth to my eldest sister. The first car existed in my family. The most memorable car in my family…
I did not think before that my parents will ask to sell the car… Quite frankly, I can`t imagine how will I be if the car doesn`t exist in my house compound anymore…I don`t want this to happen! However, it is not my right to decide whether to sell the car or not. I am not the owner…I failed to persuade my parents…I`m really sad because of that…
I`m really scare that I won`t be able to face the reality, whether my parents will sell it or not… I regretted…for being forgetful of its existence…I should spend more time…maybe to look at it for at least more than 10 minutes…I didn`t even snap a photo on it… I really regret…
No matter what will happen, whether it will be sold or not…it will always be there…at least in my heart…

ReplyDeletestill, 5538 is a car n not our family members..A car, originally bought is to serve a purpose as transport vehicle that enables ppl to live an easier and convenient life, without the need to walk or take public transport all the time..
when a car reaches a certain age, it became less n less efficient, with many flaws n teachnical errors emerging, of which the owner will have to spend lotz to fix it..
hence, when it reaches a limit, it lost the purpose of serving ppl..on the other hand, if a new car comes in n replace it, it will certainly make the life easier n better..get the point?
the reason y mum n dad choose to sell of 5538 is because it has completed its work for over 27 years (btw, it was bought by grandpa even before they got married). now it couldn't work as well as it used to be, n hence it's time to say bye to it..
thinking about feelings, i'm sure mum n dad too, r very 'berat hati' to let it go..since it resembles grandpa n many sweet memories of this family..somehow, they still need to accept the fact that they need new car to replace it..coz they need to travel, they need to work, n they need to pick u up fr school n tuitions..
no matter how deep ur feelings r towards 5538, all n all it is still a car..y not put ur focus on the ppl around u whom u really need to spend time with n whom that really needs ur love? (dont get me wrong, i know u've been a great daughter to baba n mama)...
think about it, few years later u'll b leaving them to pursue ur studies elsewhere, like me n jie jie..n sooner u're gonna have ur own house n new car, n sooner u'll form a new family of ur own like huey huey jie jie..hence, there's no much time left to spend with baba n mama..(which juzz like my case T_T)
so,y not treasure the momment n secondary life with them? u can do many things beyond what i can now do to honour them...dont u think so??

haha..wow, ying hui wrote a super long post! but nevertheless, really powerful. it's true, i totally get how you feel. being attached to something that has been thru so many significant moments of our lives. =D but you know, that car will always be a part of ur memories..a part of one season of ur life. the new car is gonna be the car that will be a part of the next season of ur life. think of all the wonderful memories that you're gonna have with that new car. perhaps, it'll be the car that ying hui will get married in.. =p hahaha!! cheers!!
